چکیده

Abstract Anisotropy level of human skin is typically obtained by multi-axial tensile test, cutometry, elastography, ultrasonic imaging, etc. Most of the methods are time-consuming, expensive, or not suitable for in-vivo measurements. In this paper a new easily-applicable method for immediate evaluation of human skin local anisotropy is described. Results in this area are of great interest in dermatology, plastic surgery, and cosmetics. The method is also utilizable in many industrial applications for anisotropy evaluation of various materials like composites, etc. Proposed system exploits a special flexible multi-directional circular probe with built-in piezoelectric elements (ultrasonic array) for elastic waves propagation measurement. The anisotropy level of the tested structure is determined from directional dependence of elastic wave velocity related with complex elastic modules of the specimen. The method was tested on human skin tissue in-vivo and a composite sample. Comparative tests on isotropic materials were realized to verify the method and system accuracy.

A fuzzy approach to the evaluation of human factors in ultrasonic nondestructive examinations

Human factors are among the main elements affecting the reliability of nondestructive examinations (NDE). In a man-machine system, human reliability is affected by many factors (performance shaping factors) whose influence on reliability cannot be easily expressed quantitatively. This paper identifies and ranks 59 perform-ance shaping factors by using a fuzzy reasoning method and proposes a pro...

Expression of PRB, FKBP52 and HB-EGF Relating with Ultrasonic Evaluation of Endometrial Receptivity

BACKGROUND To explore the molecular basis of the different ultrasonic patterns of the human endometrium, and the molecular marker basis of local injury. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS The mRNA and protein expression of FKBP52, progesterone receptor A (PRA), progesterone receptor B (PRB), and HB-EGF were detected in different patterns of the endometrium by real-time RTPCR and immunohistochemis...

Evaluation of human allogeneic collagen gel for correction of nasolabial folds using non-invasive measurement techniques

Background: With aging, the facial folds, grooves, and sagging tissue become more prominent. It is haracterized by loss of the collagen mass in the dermis and an increased array of elastin whirls in the deeper dermis. The aim of this study was to determine whether correction of nasolabial folds could be achieved using an allogeneic collagen product. Methods: Nine healthy volunteers participated...

Facial Expression Recognition Based on Anatomical Structure of Human Face

Automatic analysis of human facial expressions is one of the challenging problems in machine vision systems. It has many applications in human-computer interactions such as, social signal processing, social robots, deceit detection, interactive video and behavior monitoring. In this paper, we develop a new method for automatic facial expression recognition based on facial muscle anatomy and hum...

Influence of Local Ultrasonic Forcing on a Turbulent Boundary Layer

An experimental study was carried out to investigate the effect of local ultrasonic forcing on a turbulent boundary layer. The ultrasonic forcing system was constructed by adhering six ultrasonic transducers to a flat plate over which water was flowed. In this system, the ultrasonic waves projected into the water by the transducers caused cavitation, giving rise to an enormous number of tiny ai...
